MRFU Merchandise

The brief

The Malta Rugby Football Union needed a merchandise range for the [2026 season / competition name] — something the squad would wear off the pitch and supporters would actually buy, not another stack of shirts in a storeroom. Four items: oversized t-shirts, hoodies, caps and travelling bags.

Union merchandise carries a particular weight. It represents a national side, sells to a small and knowledgeable supporter base, and appears in photographs long after the season ends. It has to be right the first time.

The thinking

We built the range around wear, not around what was easiest to print. Oversized tees and hoodies because that is what players and supporters reach for on the way to and from a match — a fitted club polo gets worn once. Caps because they are the item that travels furthest and costs least to carry. Travelling bags because a squad that plays away needs them anyway, and a bag is the piece of merchandise with the longest working life.

Four items, deliberately. A club shop with four things people want beats one with twelve nobody chose.

The crest was supplied by the Union and treated as fixed — colour-matched and proofed against each fabric and each colourway before anything was committed. Dark hoodies, light caps and a coated bag panel all take a mark differently; the proof stage is where that gets settled rather than discovered.

The making

Artwork was signed off against a physical sample before the full run — one approved piece in hand, not a screen mock-up.

Stock was sourced through our pre-qualified European suppliers and decorated to specification. The schedule was built backwards from the Union's date rather than forwards from the order date, which is the part that actually protects a deadline on an imported run: order early enough that the lead time is absorbed rather than argued about. Every item was checked against the written brief before it reached the Union.

The result

Delivered in full and in specification, ahead of the fixture.

"MRCH XV was an outstanding partner for kitting out MRFU this season. Every piece of apparel and merch arrived beautifully designed and built to last, the quality was evident the moment we opened the boxes, from stitching to fabric to fit. What set them apart even more was their support: responsive, proactive, and easy to work with from first order to final delivery. Any rugby club or union looking for a merch and apparel partner would be doing themselves a favor by going with MRCH XV."
